Chifty Knowledge

SharePoint content as a knowledge source for AI

Chifty Knowledge connects SharePoint to your central knowledge base. Employees ask questions in plain language and get answers with cited sources – based only on the content approved for them.

How does AI search SharePoint documents?

Chifty Knowledge connects SharePoint as a knowledge source. Approved content becomes searchable and available to the AI in Chifty Chat and Chifty Office. Permissions stay intact: the AI only draws on sources the asking person is allowed to see, and every answer shows the sources it used.

What gets connected

SharePoint often holds a large part of a company's documented knowledge: policies, project files, meeting minutes, and document libraries grown over years. Chifty Knowledge connects this content as a knowledge source to your central knowledge base – alongside other sources such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or HubSpot, plus directly uploaded documents and notes. There's nothing to copy or reorganize: existing content becomes usable right where it already lives.

The connected knowledge is used where your team already works. In Chifty Chat, employees ask questions in plain language and get answers with cited sources instead of clicking through folder structures. In Chifty Office, approved knowledge flows into email drafts – every draft is reviewed and sent by your team.

Permissions stay intact

The principle is simple: the AI must not bypass permissions. In Chifty, you decide who can access which knowledge – personally, for specific roles and teams, or company-wide. Answers draw exclusively on sources approved for the asking person.

Technically, the permission filter is applied directly in the search, before a result exists – the AI itself cannot influence it. Sensitive areas such as HR, finance, or management stay protected when classified accordingly. And because every answer shows its sources, it stays traceable what it is based on.

Honest limits

  • The connection needs read access to the SharePoint content you want to use as a knowledge source. What you don't share, Chifty doesn't see – and therefore can't use in answers.
  • Chifty is a young product, and the connectors keep evolving. Which of your content can be connected in detail is best clarified in a personal conversation.
  • The quality of the answers depends on the quality of the content: outdated or contradictory documents in SharePoint lead to correspondingly limited answers.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to our SharePoint data during AI processing?
Chifty is hosted in Germany, and AI processing defaults to the EU via Google Cloud Vertex AI (default region europe-west1). Transfers are encrypted with TLS throughout, and your content is not used to train AI models. With Google Cloud Vertex AI and OpenAI, we have contractually agreed that requests are not retained after processing. A DPA under Art. 28 GDPR is available on request.
Which Chifty product do I need for the SharePoint connection?
Chifty Knowledge. That's where SharePoint is connected as a knowledge source and access is controlled. The knowledge is then used in Chifty Chat – for questions with cited sources – and in Chifty Office, where it flows into email drafts.
Can the AI read all of our SharePoint content?
No. The AI draws exclusively on content approved for the asking person. The permission filter is applied directly in the search on every request, before a result exists – the AI cannot bypass or influence it.
How can I search SharePoint with AI?
Connect SharePoint as a source in Chifty Knowledge. Employees then ask their questions in Chifty Chat in plain language – without having to know folder structures or the right search terms. The answer brings the relevant content together and names the sources used.
Is SharePoint suitable as a knowledge base for AI?
Yes – as one of several sources. SharePoint remains your document repository; Chifty Knowledge turns the content stored there, together with other sources such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or HubSpot plus uploaded documents and notes, into a searchable knowledge base for the AI.
